At AS and A2 pupils follow the Edexcel course.

Physics is so basic a subject that there is scarcely a single area of modern life that is not affected by it. Learning Physics beyond GCSE is fun, exciting and broadens your horizons. It is becoming increasingly important to be scientifically literate in order to understand many of the problems of the modern world. This Physics course is a "context-driven" approach to A Level. Each Unit reprersents a "real life" focus in which the relevant physics concepts and skills are developed and which are then understood in their application within the particular context of interest.

Material is introduced through "Storylines" which place the physics in a modern context. This is supported by practical activities, discussions, solving problems and data analysis.

The Units are:

1. Physics on the Go: Higher, faster, stronger; Good Enough to Eat; Spare Part Surgery.

2. Physics at work: The Sound of Music; Technology in Space; Digging up the Past

3. ExploringPhysics Coursework: Report based on a visit or case study, together with an

experiment arising from the visit / case study.

4. Physics on the Move: Transport on Track; The Medium is the Message; Probing the Heart of the

  Matter.

5. Physics from Creation to Collapse: Reach for the Stars; Build or Bust.

6. Experiment Physics Coursework: Plan and carry out an Experiment.
