Humanities Specialist Status
An assortment of specialist status activities have continued to take place since the last edition of The Link (our school newsletter - see Information page).
Plans for July's Humanities Festival, with Guston Primary School, continue to gather pace - with the inclusion of a number of additional and exciting activities, since the original idea was discussed in September.
Plans are also moving forward with the refurbishment of the Library. Miss Belcher and her student librarians have worked hard discussing, drawing-up and reviewing plans. They have now reached the crucial stage of deciding the actual colour scheme! The plans include comfy reading areas, listening stations, impoved ICT facilities and better access to careers information.
The School's involvement with the Dover Extended Schools Forum continues to provide ideas for future collaborative work with a range of people and agencies from the wider community.
Although many extra-curricular opportunities are already on offer at DGGS, we now aim to broaden the kind of activity on offer, making available a range of courses, trips and events for students, parents and community partners. More information to follow shortly....
Finally, the number of successful charity events organised within school continues to increase. I never cease to be amazed at just how committed, creative and resourceful the girls are when arranging their fundraising activities, and I thank them once again for their support of so many worthy causes. Next term I look forward to the last few events, particularly 8C's staff v. student netball match!
