Humanities Specialist Status
Following the end of the school's second year as a Specialist Humanities College, and as we once again review the impact of the specialist status, it is very pleasing to report that much progress continues to be made in a variety of areas. We are particularly pleased to be able to continue our work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and our Primary Enrichment Programme. This academic year we have in fact extended the Primary Enrichment Programme to include a new group of Year 3 pupils in addition to continuing with our group of Year 4 and Year 5 pupils. Lessons take place on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and include enrichment opportunities in English, Drama, Media Studies, Maths and, new for this year, Science. he pupils have settled down to their work with interest and enthusiasm, and we look forward to working with them.
Another exciting development for this academic year is the school's successful bid to become involved in the Change Schools Programme. This programme helps schools to initiate and develop change in their approaches to teaching and learning, encouraging, in particular, both creativity and a sense of enquiry. Schools recruited to the programme have to demonstrate a commitmentto putting creativity at the heart of their work, and to educating young people for a creative future. Again, we look forward to some exciting and 'creative' developments to add to our already varied and interactice curriculum.
