French is taught to all girls in Year 7.
For GCSE girls study the WJEC course. It aims to test how well candidates could cope as a tourist or guest in France. All examination tasks are set in authentic situations they might encounter. They take four examinations in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, all of which carry equal weighting.
At AS and A2 Level, the girls study the Edexcel course.
There are numerous trips to support learning across the Key Stages including: a shopping/cinema trip to Calais in December for Sixth Formers; a Year 8 visit to a Boulogne chocolate factory and Nausicaa in May; a Year 9 exchange with the Collège St Pierre in Calais, in conjunction with Dover Grammar School for Boys. Also, Year 7 and 9 girls went to Eurodisney, Paris in July and girls taking AS and A2 French attended a revision day at Christchurch University College at Canterbury in June.
